Can an average student crack IIT mains with a decent rank?
Anyone asking this question is most likely in 11th or 10th
(doesn’t matter if you’re in 12th or even a repeat). Cracking JEE is
not just about high IQ or learning fast! It’s about your skills! Your
ability to push the limits, your ability to do smart work (smart, not
HARD) .
If you are a beginner and want proper guidance then you can enrol
yourself in an IIT JEE mentorship program in which you will be
connected to recent JEE toppers who will personally guide you and
will be your personal mentors throughout your JEE preparation.
They will reveal tricks and tips so that you are way ahead then rest
of the competitors, get the best resources and learn essential things
like time management and consistency
Is it okay to be average?
Average students refer to themselves as average. You are average
because you were lazy. You could have worked hard, but you didn’t.
Trust me you did the RIGHT thing. I think having fun is more
important than studying till 10th (that doesn’t mean you don’t have
to study at all. 80 percent are good till 10th). 11th and 12th is the
time when you need to start focusing on your studies. Since you had
fun till 10th, now you can think about your future and start learning
to work. Congratulate yourself on being average and having all the
fun.
How can you get a good score?
Any average student can easily score really appreciable in JEE. Just
focus on the lessons, choose the right books and manage your time.
In other words, you have to work smart. How to work smart is a
completely new topic anyway.
My senior who got an AIR of around 1200-1300 last year couldn’t
answer what the formula for pressure was in his very first physics
class. But he worked hard and now he is in IIT Kharagpur. Nothing
is hard except the first step. The first step is to solidify your goal.
You can easily reach your goal
