If you take advise from JEE mentors or JEE toppers then they will say to you that you can definitely rely on the chemistry for JEE Main. In JEE main chemistry section you will find many theoretical questions rather than application based questions. You can rely on NCERT as it covers the whole syllabus of JEE main. First try to complete the whole book of NCERT, read every line properly and try to study this book at least 3 to 4 times. With this you can practice NCERT Exemplars. During studying make notes accordingly and revise it frequently. After completing the NCERT you can go for other books. You can follow OP Tandon, JD Lee, MS Chauhan. If you want to know the books that toppers used during their preparation then can connect with JEE toppers. You can listen to their experiences.

The NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training) textbooks are widely used in schools in India and provide a comprehensive introduction to the subject of chemistry. While they can be a useful resource for gaining a general understanding of the subject, the NCERT textbooks are not specifically designed for the JEE Main exam.

The JEE Main exam covers a more advanced level of chemistry, and typically includes topics and concepts that are not covered in the NCERT textbooks. Additionally, the JEE Main exam is known for its challenging, application-based questions, which require a deeper understanding of the material.

Therefore, while the NCERT textbooks can be a useful resource for gaining a general understanding of chemistry, they should not be relied upon as the sole source of preparation for the JEE Main exam. It is important to supplement your studies with other resources, such as JEE Main-specific study materials, sample papers, and mock tests, in order to fully prepare for the exam.

Yes, NCERT books are enough for the JEE Mains Chemistry. About 80% of the questions in the JEE Mains Chemistry are from NCERT directly. If you would have read NCERT properly you would be able to solve 65% easily.

But as JEE Main is a competitive exam, not everything will come from NCERT. Therefore, it is suggested you go through other books as well.

  • Try solving the last 10 year’s question papers. You will find at least 4 to 5 repeating questions.
  • Join a Test Series conducted by some popular coaching institutes, as they will be beneficial for your preparation.
  • Make a notebook to keep track of the different formulas.

Lastly, it can be said that NCERT is a huge help when it comes to chemistry be it physical, inorganic or organic chemistry. Read topics like Biomolecules, Chemistry In Everyday Life, Polymers and Colloids from the textbook also.
