How do I manage time in the JEE Mains exam?
With a limited time of three hours, one can feel pressured in the
exam hall. However, if you overcome this anxiety and stay calm and
act smart, it can help you score well. The following tips may help
you during the examination:
In the first hour and a half, try to solve all the questions which you
find easy. If a question seems tricky, skip straight to the next one and
don’t think about it. This ensures a high accuracy of correct answers
and thus a good score.
Then in the next 45 minutes (maximum), solve the questions you
know you can but didn’t attempt in the first round because they were
time consuming. Try to cover these questions in the shortest possible
In the remaining 45 minutes, you can try to answer the questions that
you think have a difficult level. Do not mark answers you are unsure
of. An incorrectly marked option leads to a negative mark.
With all of this, allow some time for revision before sending to be
doubly sure. You can practice and try different tests. Writing many
tests will help you learn how to manage your time. These tests
helped me to cope with my speed and finally at exam time I was able
to overcome my problem and use my 3 hours strategically.
