How to Revise effectively in less time?

I have always believed that Better Revision Better Result . So an effective revision will greatly improve your score. You can increase your speed and efficacy of revision by following some tricks -

For each time you revise try to find out the topics you forget frequently or find difficult to learn. Mark those topics and next time revise only those topics. This will greatly increase your efficacy and speed of revision.

Many students think that they will start the revision after completing their syllabus, but this is a myth. Revision is a continuous process . There is no prefect time for revision. You should dedicate 30 - 40% of your daily study time to revision.

At this time, when there is only 3 months left for exam you should increase the duration and frequency of Revision. Now your major time should be dedicated towards Revision. Focus on new and weak topics in the remaining time.

There is also a myth about frequency of revisions. You don’t need to revise a topic 20 - 30 times. Revise as many times as you find sufficient for yourself. Some topics may take more no. of revisions as compared to other topics.

So, focus on your Revision and you will feel confident and will see improvement in your performance.

1. Start revising early ?

You can’t rush effective revision. By starting early on, and spreading out the workload for each exam, great revision strategies will help your brain to retain information, and ensure that you feel less stressed along the way.

2. Prioritise and plan your revision ?

Spending time with friends and family is important – so planning your free time, revision strategies and prioritising your tasks will help to ensure that you maintain a productive work-life balance.

3. Make a revision schedule ?

Once you know where your free time is, create a detailed (but realistic) revision schedule, that includes a breakdown of what you need to do and when.

More importantly, try to stick to it as much as possible.

4. Make a to-do list ?

The satisfaction of writing a list of tasks to complete in a day, then ticking them off one by one, will help you to stay motivated and feel on top of your revision timetable.

5. Reward yourself ?

For each thing you tick off your to-do list, reward yourself.

Whether it’s with a break, a coffee or a snack, having something tangible to motivate and reward yourself with will help to keep you going.

6. Invest in stationery ?

What better motivation to get studying than with some shiny new stationery?!

It might seem trivial, but having new pens, notebooks, highlighters and sticky pads to make revision notes can really boost your focus and motivation pre-exam.

7. Take regular breaks from revision ?

If you’re serious about using your time effectively, taking regular breaks is absolutely essential for boosting energy levels, focus and brain power.

Try cycles of one-hour study sessions, with a 15-minute break.

8. Don’t get distracted from revision ?

It’s easier said than done – but when you are revising, try to remove all distractions (like watching a film “in the background”).

Keeping your study time and your relaxation time separate from each other will make your revision much more effective, and leave you with more free time to do the things you enjoy.
